Why is certification important?

Certification allows the patient or client to more easily narrow their search when searching for the most competent professional to assure that they are receiving the highest level of education and care. A Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®) is an individual who has gone above and beyond taking an introductory course in Orofacial Myology and has undergone a rigorous certification process that includes both a written and an onsite clinical examination process. All COM®s remain accredited through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and participate in recurrent continuing education courses to access the most current science and treatment methods available.
